Kate’s Aussie cousin comes to Kelso – Friday Feb 22 2008
She has been touring in the UK annually, establishing a reputation and doing radio interviews; now Beck Sian is coming to Kelso on Friday February 22nd. This will be a most unusual night for the club, as Beck sings, plays guitar and also wields the digeridoo. Her music is firmly in the New Age idiom and you’d have to compare her to Loreena McKennitt, Enya or indeed to her cousin Kate Bush.

You need to visit her website to get an idea of how very different this concert night will be, and watch her YouTube videos as well.
Here are some media comments:
“Bucketloads of charisma and a fabulous, enchanting delivery…” – Steve Harley, singer/songwriter/Cockney Rebel
“She is fabulous!” – Genevieve Tudor, Sunday Folk, BBC Radio
“Gorgeous female vocals which are shivers-down-the-spine good!” – Beat Newspaper, Australia
“There is an enormous range of emotion and feeling in that voice and persona; and, with that voice, she can do anything….” – Andrew Wilson, BBC Radio
“Beck may be shimmering in Kate Bush style. but Beck’s vocal range and haunting delivery raises the hairs on the back of your neck. Brilliant Beck!” – David Parker, Editor, The Beat International
“A lovely voice and interesting material…” – Dalton Delan, American Public Television
Doors will open at 8.15pm for our usual 8.30 open mic local support, and Beck Sian will be on from 9.30pm. The Cobbles Inn is being refurbished downstairs, so bar service may be bottles only, no draught, and you should check with the management as to whether any meals are being served (it is unlikely they will be available close to the opening time of the concert). We have already booked two or three parties in with tables, so if you want to be sure of a good seat, please contact David Kilpatrick or pop into Pet Sounds on Woodmarket and tell Pete Gillespie.
Admission is £5 on the door (£3 concessions).
